Last 2 weeks

It's been a little while since I last blogged on here. During that time my parents came and went. They visited me for about a week on their way to Israel for the Baha'i International Convention which takes place every 5 years. I really enjoyed having them here. It was nice for them to see where I live and what my life consists of these days. It helps give them a mental picture. They seemed to really enjoy their visit and the surroundings here. It really is a beautiful city/country.

There wasn't too much time for the three of us to spend alone together because there were lots of visits with extended family members, in-laws, etc. That was nice too, but sometimes its nice to just be by yourselves and have some quality family time. They will be back through here for a day and half and I am hoping it will just be us and we can enjoy some quality time together. It's so hard being so far away. I wish my family had been lucky enough to be together, but sometimes wishes don't come true. There is always the next world...

If's funny because the weather was really lovely the entire time they were here and as soon as they left it got a bit cloudy and is not as nice, though it is much warmer and we can finally see signs of spring/summer on the way. The trees and flowers are starting to bloom. I really hope we have a good summer weather wise! Last week was great, and I would love more of that!

They met Bebo and loved him as I suspected they would. It's hard not to like him if you are a dog person. He is so cute, friendly, and funny! I adore this dog so much. I hope he stays healthy and I have him for a long, long time!

P and I signed a contract on an apartment agreeing to purchase it. If all goes well, we will be moving in during the beginning of July. I can't wait. I love the apartment I am in now, but at the same time, its not mine and I can't wait to be in my own place which belongs to me and I don't have to feel worried if something happens, etc.. AND to be rid of the stairs, oh the joy I feel already!!! Plus now I can completely decorate it with my own furnishings, I will have extra bedrooms so my family and friends can come and stay with me. I am very excited!!!

Ok, that's my latest update!

Life's Dilemmas

Why is it that as human beings we let quite trivial, and in the big picture, insignificant things, become "problems" in our lives? I mean somehow, despite knowing there is a big picture and more to life, the next world, etc... we still let ourselves get bogged down by things that in the end shouldn't matter.

For instance, if you are someone's friend and they end up not calling you and opting to be with someone else instead or blowing you off for something that in your opinion is silly, why should that really matter? I mean it does. There are very few people who can actually say they don't get bothered by these sorts of things. But why? I mean for those of us who have beliefs of a next world and believe that to achieve a higher station or better progress in that world, we should focus on bettering ourselves as human beings and service towards others, Why is it we allow ourselves anytime to even think about it?

It feels like we make this life much harder than it could be. Like if we could learn the art of letting things roll off like water off of a duck's back, life would be so much simpler. Whatever happened to "to each his own"? I mean I am the first person who is affected by these things. I am UBER sensitive, for real. I hate it actually. But I take everything personally. I always have. For instance, if i walked by a group of people and they started laughing, somehow I thought they were laughing at me, even though odds are it had nothing to do with me. I feel slighted very easily. I KNOW I shouldn't, but I do. I don't know how to not be so sensitive and how to not let things hurt me so easily. But that is why I wonder about this. Because I also believe strongly that these things don't matter. I mean I firmly believe I should be kind to others and it DOES matter if I am purposely unkind to someone or mean or rude etc... that is not acceptable and does matter. But in general, it shouldn't matter for me. I should just live my life, focus on what's important and not let the rest of it get to me. So why is it that I can't or that people in general can't? I greatly admire those who can!

Family....

Well another weekend has passed and still no home. That's ok! I am sure we will find something very soon! I am quite hopeful.

This weekend I found out my husband is going to be an uncle. I guess that means I too will be an aunt. Well, not really sure. The truth is, in my family, I have always considered my aunt/uncle's in law as aunt's and uncles. there really is no difference to me between them and my blood aunt and uncles. It's probably just how I was raised. I don't know if this little one on the way will view me in the same way. I guess it doesn't really matter, but it would be nice! Only time will tell...

The news certainly was a surprise. Truth is I always thought I would be the first one to get pregnant, but in a way its nice because now the pressure is off to provide a grandkid(to my inlaws that is, my own parents, that's a whole other story)! A baby is such a blessing so I am very happy for my brother and sister in law and wish them lots of luck on this journey of parenthood that they will now embark upon.

In other news, my parents get here next week and I am very happy about that. I can't wait to hang out with them and show them where I live, work, etc...I am very close to my family and being apart is not the easiest thing in the world. I would give anything to live closer to them and to my sister. Most people don't realize how lucky they are when they get to live near family. And quite frankly, sometimes if you can't appreciate what you have, you almost don't deserve to have it...But that's not my place to say. All I know is, I value family above anything else in this life and it incredibly STINKS that I don't get to be physically close to them!!! Oh well, you learn to live with certain disappointments in life, and this is most certainly the biggest one for me!!! Thank goodness for skype!!!

And the Search Continues

The apartment I spoke of earlier is most definitely out of my grasp now. There are two families/people in a bidding war over it. They keep raising their bids and its now too much for me, which I expected. It's ok. I know it means this time it wasn't meant to be.

We are going to look at a few apartments this weekend and there is one we feel good about, but the concern would be if it went up a lot in price through the bidding process. Hopefully it won't, but you never know. We have to see it. it's quite possible that after seeing it in person we decide its not for us after all... The good thing is I am quite perseverant! So I will just keep looking and looking until I find a place! Though I would love it if that happened sooner rather than later.

My folks are coming to visit me in exactly 2 weeks from now, which I am really looking forward to. I wonder if I will have found a new place by then, probably not but who knows!!! I have scheduled vacation at work for the entire duration of their stay, so that is nice because it means I don't have to lose any time with them. We will probably do some sight seeing around town, but mostly just hang out together! I really can't WAIT for them to meet my dog, Bebo. He is such a character and I have been talking him up for a year now, so they can finally meet the little guy in person. I know my dad and Bebo are going to really hit it off, because Bebo is so playful and my dad loves dogs like that!!! Can't wait!!! Its funny, he's just a dog, but he brings me so much joy!!! i really do love him so much. everyday he does something that makes me laugh. I can't imagine how people could every be cruel to animals, most especially, adorable furry creatures like my little Bebo!!!
